DISCUSSION  Many of the headstones, some dating back to the 1850s, have been knocked over, broken or moved and stacked in piles. There appears to be a road being built to the south side of the property, said Kathryn Hardgrove Popio of Wadsworth, who visited the cemetery located on Deerfield Avenue as part of her research on cemeteries. Trustees and the road superintendent were stunned to hear of and see pictures of the damage. The Road Department maintains the property, which previously was owned by a church.OTHER ACTIONHeard that Will Hall’s Eagle Scout project at the township park had been completed. Hall and his crew installed fencing and did some landscape work at the park. Hall is a member of Buckeye Council Boy Scout Troop 933.Swore in Samuel Wykoff and Stephen Cook as firefighters/EMTs. Both are Explorers with the township and Canal Fulton fire departments.Agreed to pay an annual fee of $2,280 to B&C Communications to maintain the tornado sirens. The bill will be split with Canal Fulton, which will pay 40 percent.Agreed to hire Jekubik Painting for $1,620 to paint the interior of the township administration building.Agreed to buy an iPad for use by fire prevention services for not more than $900 from Verizon Wireless.Heard that the township’s new firetruck will be dedicated at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 30 at the Eugene M. Fellmeth Safety Center in Canal Fulton.Heard that a State of the City and Township Town Hall meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 9 at Puffenberger Hall at Northwest High School.
